Theapplications will vary in size and complexity. Some developmentwill involve upgrading and improving existing applications. Somedevelopment will involve designing and building completely newofferings. In all cases, an emphasis will be given to providing,state of the art, Web 2.0 style features to the applications. Thisposition requires comfort with agile development style, and fastpaced, short cycle times. Enthusiasm for new technology and "cando" attitude is very important. Initiative and self-direction ishighly valued.Responsibilities include:Interact frequently with internationally distributed colleaguesin order to gather requirements, develop schedules, overseedevelopment, and troubleshoot production problems.Cross-train other members of the team in order to grow theoverall skill level of the team.Required knowledges and skills:1-3 years experience in web application developmentGood communication (verbal and written) skills.Reasonable English skills are a must.Must be comfortable multi-tasking across several projects.Experience with AJAX technologies (XML, DHTML, Javascript, CSS,XSLT, XmlSchema)Knowledge of current web standards and best practicesThe following knowledges and skills will be aplus:Requirements gathering and analysisEnthusiasm for the SLATES paradigm (Search, Links, Authorship,Tags, Extensions, Signals)Experience with data driven applications and SQLExperience with scripting ( Ruby, Perl, Python, Javascript,cron jobs)Wiki master experience (MediaWiki)Experience with Java.Experience with templating technologies (JSP, PHP, Ruby onRails, ASP).Experience working with source code control.Experience working with Linux, Solaris.Experience working with N-Tier enterprise publishingsystem(s)Experience with personalization and customizationtechniques.Data aggregation and report generationKnowledge of browser compatibility issues when using Javascriptand CSS.Understanding of user experience.Understanding of scalability and performanceconsiderations.Understanding of localization considerations.Understanding of security, authentication, and identityissues.Working knowledge of Section 508 Requirements(Accessibility)Design skills (ability to create mockups in photoshop).Interaction design skills (user flow diagrams and usecases).Mobile application development experience.
